Luxembourg: Historic example for Ukraine of surrender and constructive concord
We develop a micro-thought already placed in the last May/June 2023 issue of LUX\ABRUZZO, where on p. 12 we depicted Luxembourg’s historical virtuosity under the banner of the Economy of Concord.” But history belongs to Macro visionaries, while temporal greed is always the cause of historical tragedies. The choices and behaviors of one and the other influence the short- and long-term Economy.
The economy cause and effect of vertical and horizontal balances and stabilizations among peoples, with their traditions, aspirations and drives for covert or overt supremacy and prevarication.
The economy of concord and coexistence of a people is based on a constant balance between micro and macro needs, choices, and visions.
But when these are entrusted with the tools of democracy to the champions and ruthless performers of personal microeconomies, contradictions and implosive mechanisms of macro ones are triggered.
Contrasts between peoples, like those between peoples of different nations, are subject to the same logic: micro divisionists possess macro decision-making powers.
Dictators express the most classic icons of such subjects. Democracies, unfortunately, only in theory ensure the right balance, but in practice they structurally and often invisibly multiply the same effects as dictatorships, with the aggravating factor of immunity of democratic representation.
The perfections are expressed by Monarchies, whether constitutional, or parliamentary, because they guarantee, by genesis, vision and macro mission of choices.
Monarchies do not express conflicts between Private and Public simply because the two statuses coincide. And any absolutist drift toward micro vision and implementations proves easy to detect and populistically counter.
In micro democratic drifts, where everyone’s propensity to think more for themselves than for the collective takes on the endemic connotation, the only possible populist revolutions are to replace social bacteria with equally voracious ones.
Monarchies or Grand Duchies are bacteriologically pure or otherwise sanitizing institutional organizations because they root antibiotic sources that are always active and effective.
But here now we are interested in shedding light on the best, most rational and fastest path to Peace for Ukraine.
A cold, lucid and rational approach to such an outcome of the ongoing war must be based on the principle of Macro convenience both territorially and, above all, temporally.
Obstacle to the implementation of this principle is or can only be the ego vision of the decision maker.
The life of a People and a national collectivity cannot be regarded in the same way as barricades protracting the geopolitical territory that demarcates its exercise of sovereignty.
The sovereignty of the dead detracts from the value of any territory and calls into question the peaceful survival of the escapees.
In the face, then, of a territory-hungry and far more gifted aggressor, it seems rational and intelligent to surrender a slice of territory, versus guaranteeing the peaceful use of the remaining territory.
Then, given that the macro interests at stake are multinational with some of these nations having considered and considering deploying substantial resources for the protection of the Aggressed, it is good that these resources, instead of being deployed to inflict more death and destruction, should be used for the infrastructural, physical and moral reconstruction of the aggrieved Ukrainian People.
A reconstruction to be seasoned with establishment of a Free Zone, for all of UKRAINE, to benefit, upon accession to the EU, from tax and tariff concessions likely to attract and protect capital and investors for a sufficient time to restore all the damage and devastation suffered.
In this way, Ukraine would be erected as the financial capital of the World East with endowment and continuous training and assistance to increase the gravitational force of wealth flows, protected, and investors for the reclaimed, cleansed and very prolific Territory.
The historical Know-How of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg could be a fruitful support in forming the functional bureaucracy needed to move from a War Economy and Society to a peaceful social organization with high development potential.
Such accelerated reconversion of the Ukrainian Economy and Society would be beyond Utopia, if desired, shared and facilitated by today’s purveyors of Weapons to kill and be killed.
In this view and in this sense the “White Flag” suggested by Pope Francis could make sense and represent the pure mirror for the vanquished and the victors: among the former the builders of Death and among the latter the Ukrainian and Russian populations.
